Cārī amīcī et amīcae,
I’m delighted to announce the launch of Latin II: Foundations — the next step in your Latin journey! 🚀
After the success of Latin I: First Steps, and after hearing your positive feedback as many of you completed your first chapters of Familia Rōmāna, it’s time to move forward together.
This new course begins where First Steps left off: at Chapter IX of Familia Rōmāna and continuing through Chapter XV. Over the semester, we’ll cover essential grammar such as the third, fourth, and fifth declensions, accusative + infinitive clauses, comparatives and superlatives, the passive voice, participles, and more. In short, these are the solid foundations you’ll need before advancing to intermediate Latin.
📚 What You’ll Get
Latin II: Foundations is a live online course designed to give you structure, clarity, and support as you continue your Latin journey:
- 🎥 Weekly lessons with clear explanations of grammar and syntax
- 📝 Quizzes and exercises to reinforce key concepts and vocabulary
- 📑 Cheatsheets and grammar summaries for quick review
- 📚 Reading practice and supplemental materials to strengthen comprehension
- 📧 Direct email support for questions between lessons
Each lesson follows the nātūra method of Hans Ørberg’s Familia Rōmāna, combining immersion with clarity.
Live Weekly Lessons (September–December 2025)
We’ll meet live on Zoom each week for structured, interactive sessions:
- 🗓 Every Wednesday at 18:00 Rome time (CET / 12:00 PM Eastern / 9:00 AM Pacific)
- ⏱ 90 minutes of reading, grammar explanation, and Q&A
- 📺 Recordings available afterward if you miss a session
The course runs from September 3rd to mid-December, with 14 live sessions in total.
🎁 Bonus for Members
Here’s the best part: when you enroll in Latin II: Foundations through a Learn Latin membership, you don’t just get access to this course — you unlock all courses on the platform.
That includes:
- Latin I: First Steps — perfect if you want to review Chapters I–VIII or brush up on the basics
- Medieval Manuscripts — a hands-on introduction to reading medieval manuscripts
- And, of course, full access to Latin II: Foundations with the weekly live lessons
Whether you need to catch up, follow both courses side by side, or explore beyond Latin, membership ensures you have everything in one place — and you’re never left behind.
Returning to Latin? This Course Is for Yo
Latin II: Foundations is not only for those who completed Latin I: First Steps. It’s also ideal if you studied Latin in the past and want to return without starting completely from scratch.
Even if you haven’t read Familia Rōmāna before, as long as you have an equivalent knowledge of the basics (first and second declensions, present tense verbs, relative and demonstrative pronouns), you’ll be able to follow along and benefit from the lessons.
In other words: if you remember a little Latin but want to rebuild your confidence step by step, this course is the perfect place to restart your journey.
Why Join?
Because learning Latin is more than memorizing forms — it’s about building momentum. With First Steps, you took your first steps. With Foundations, you’ll gain the tools and confidence to read real Latin more fluently and prepare for intermediate study.
Whether you’re a homeschooler, autodidact, teacher, or simply someone who has always wanted to unlock the language of Ancient Rome, this course is designed for you.
👉 Enrollment is open now at learnlatin.io. Spaces for the live lessons fill quickly, so don’t wait too long.
Let’s continue the journey together. As always:
