Anyone seeking rigorous, structured formation in Latin
No prior knowledge is required for Latin I.
Each course combines:
Structured video lessons (Scholae)
Progressive, commented readings (Lectiōnēs)
Systematic grammar reviews (Recēnsiōnēs)
Quizzes and exercises (Pēnsa)
Cheat sheets and review materials (Tabulae)
Curated links and research tools (Vincula)
Optional live sessions (availability depends on the term)
The program is designed to provide serious, university-level depth in a carefully structured and accessible online format.
The membership provides access to both formats:
You may progress entirely at your own rhythm through the self-paced recorded lessons and submit your questions in the Forum, where they are addressed directly by the instructor.
You may also attend the weekly live classes, with new courses introduced each term. These sessions allow you to interact directly with the instructor, meet fellow students, and resolve questions in real time.
Additionally, you have access to the weekly Latin Grammar Workshop, dedicated to working through exercises and addressing questions directly with the instructor (please consult the academic calendar for specific details).
The Premium Membership additionally includes one private 1-on-1 live session per month for particularly motivated students or those with specific academic needs.
A typical course (e.g., Latin I or Latin II) can be completed in:
Approximately 3–4 months at an intensive pace, which corresponds to the duration of a standard live academic term.
5–6 months at a moderate pace, which is generally recommended in order to avoid burnout and allow for steady consolidation.
That said, each student progresses at a different rhythm. The study of Latin is not a race but a discipline — and, ultimately, a lifelong journey.
Yes.
Depending on the course, you will be required to complete exercises after each lesson (pēnsa) and submit a final assignment at the end of the course.
Students who successfully complete the required coursework and whose final assignment is evaluated positively by the instructor may request a certificate of completion.
Please note that our certificates are not formally accredited and do not confer university credit. They attest to the successful completion of the course and reflect the high academic standards upheld by Learn Latin.
